Where Our Matcha Comes From
At HÅRE, we believe that quality is something you can feel.
Not only in taste but in the way a product supports your body, your focus, and your everyday rituals.
That is why sourcing our matcha was never just about finding something “trendy” or visually beautiful. We spent time looking for matcha that carries depth, integrity, and true Japanese tea craftsmanship behind it.
Our ceremonial grade matcha comes from Yame, Japan, one of the most respected tea-growing regions in the country, known for producing some of Japan’s highest quality shaded teas.

Yame’s climate plays a huge role in the final quality of the tea. The region is known for its misty mornings, mineral-rich soil, clean water, and generations of tea farmers who have perfected the art of cultivating matcha with exceptional smoothness and depth.
The matcha we use is made primarily from the cultivar Saemidori, with a slight touch of Yabukita. Saemidori is highly valued in Japan for its naturally vibrant green color, rich umami taste, gentle sweetness, and remarkably low bitterness.
Unlike lower quality commercial matcha, which can often taste grassy, bitter, or dull in color, high-grade Saemidori creates a much smoother and more balanced experience- creamy, soft, slightly nutty, and deeply enjoyable even without sweeteners.
Our matcha is made from first harvest leaves (Ichibancha), meaning the youngest and most nutrient-dense leaves of the season are carefully selected during the first spring harvest in May.

Before harvesting, the tea plants are shade-grown a traditional Japanese cultivation method that increases chlorophyll and L-theanine levels within the leaves. This is one of the reasons ceremonial grade matcha is known for its calm, focused energy and vibrant green appearance.
After harvest, the leaves are carefully processed and stone-ground into an ultra-fine powder to preserve their delicate flavor, aroma, antioxidants, and amino acid profile.
For us, matcha is not simply a caffeine alternative.
It is part of a more intentional way of living, one that supports focus without chaos, energy without overwhelm, and rituals that fit into real everyday life.
Because when sourcing is done properly, you can taste the difference.
But more importantly, you can feel it.
