Ceremonial cacao is one of the purest forms of chocolate you can experience. It is made from whole cacao beans that have been minimally processed, preserving their natural fats, minerals, and active compounds. Unlike regular cocoa powder, ceremonial cacao is closer to its original state - rich, full-bodied, and deeply nourishing.
The term “ceremonial grade” doesn’t mean the cacao is only meant for rituals. While cacao has a long history in traditional ceremonies in Central and South America, today this term is used to describe quality and integrity. It refers to cacao that has been carefully sourced, gently processed, and handled in a way that preserves its natural properties, flavor, and effect on the body.
Because of this, ceremonial cacao offers a different experience. It provides a more balanced, steady form of energy, supports focus, and is often associated with a sense of calm presence and emotional openness.

How to Prepare Ceremonial Cacao
Preparing cacao is simple, but a few details make a big difference.
Start by chopping or grating about 20–25 grams of cacao, if you use cacao blocks. (If you use powder, add it streight to the pot). Add it to a small pot with around 200 ml of water or plant-based milk. Gently heat the mixture while stirring until the cacao is fully melted and smooth. You can add spices like cinnamon or a pinch of salt, as well as a natural sweetener if desired.
It’s important not to overheat the cacao. High temperatures can damage its beneficial compounds and affect both its taste and nutritional value. Keep the heat gentle - warm, not boiling, arount 70degrees.
It’s also recommended to avoid using regular cow’s milk. Dairy contains casein, a protein that can bind to cacao’s antioxidants and reduce their absorption in the body. It can also make the drink feel heavier. Using water or plant-based milk allows the cacao to remain lighter, smoother, and more bioavailable.
Ceremonial cacao is not just about how you prepare it, but how you experience it. Take a moment, slow down, and allow it to become part of your daily rhythm — not just a drink, but a small ritual of presence.
